Zanotti increases North American focus

Zanotti, which offers a full-line of transportation refrigeration equipment, has restructured operations for a greater emphasis on the North American marketplace.  It now has separate operations for Canada and the US to take advantage of logistics benefits to better serve dealers and customers.

Based in Pegognaga, Italy, Zanotti SpA manufactures a wide variety of industrial and transportation refrigeration and air treatment equipment for the food industry in Italy. It began operations in North America six years ago, setting up offices in Ontario, Canada, operating as Zanotti Transblock North America.

With the reorganization, the company has changed its name to Zanotti. It now offers nearly 30 different models of transport refrigeration units, including battery-drive split units, direct-drive split units, direct-drive units, diesel units, undermount diesel units, and trailer diesel units. It also has a variety of refrigeration solutions for stationary and storage trailers.

“As the North American operation evolved, 90% of sales growth was experienced in the US,” said Zoltan Lamperth of Zanotti East, one of the new regions created for the US. Zanotti East has a new 15,000-square foot corporate headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts, that includes full technical training facilities.

“It became apparent that we needed to have a base of operations in the States to take the business to the next level,” explained. “In the ever-changing and challenging economy, it is essential to ensure a dynamic that effectively anticipates, responds, and maintains enough flexibility to overcome the hurdles of growth,” he explained.

Zanotti has established three territories in the US - East, Central, and West to maximize distribution, management, marketing, and support efficiencies. “By having multiple distribution points, we can better ensure parts and unit availability,” said Lamperth.

Along with helping the current dealer base build their businesses by providing them with additional training and resources, Zanotti is also expanding the size of the dealer base.

By way of example, Lamperth said a key focus of Zanotti East is on dealer and territory development “in order to ensure the consistency of professionalism, quality and product support from cradle to grave.”

“Zanotti SpA is very committed to the North American market,” Lamperth said, “and is continuing to make significant investments there. Consider that in a market the size of North America with the size of the competition, in just a couple of years after starting from scratch in a market that did not know the name Zanotti, about 80% of the market is aware of the brand and recognizes the quality of our products.

“There is a huge growth opportunity in the US, particularly in the East,” he noted. Zanotti’s goal is “to be the alternative choice in transport refrigeration.”
